DAS VILLAIN Post-Cause & Effect, Rob Rowe showcases his brilliance as a singer/songwriter/programmer with producer/programmer Von Hertzog. The Persistence of Memory strikes a perfect balance between synthpop, futurepop, darkwave, and contemporary electronic music. Favorite track: Calm Down Lover (In a Dramatic Gesture Remix).

schubert Okay so I’ve listened to the whole EP 4 times now and each song is amazing and the re-mix of calm down lover is crazy ass good. Bravo to you guys for putting out such a great EP. Hope you continue your collaboration.

Kendra Armer I haven't stopped listening to this EP since its release! I woke up with "Calm Down Lover" in my head for days after just hearing the teaser snippet. It's dreamy and nostalgic, and that "uh-huh" in the second verse--phew! "A Little Bit Sweeter" is so damn sexy that it puts the X in VH x RR! I dare you to listen and not shimmy your shoulders in the first 10 seconds. The beat is hypnotic and the vocals are just phenomenal. I can't wait to hear more from this amazing duo! Favorite track: Calm Down Lover.
Sir Percival Blakeney

Sir Percival Blakeney This is a great EP. Rob’s vocals sound better than ever, the synth is sooooo good, and melodies are excellent. Favorite track is The Sun, The Stars, The Shone. The chorus is 🔥! The inevitable comparison to Cause & Effect: a good song is a good song and VH x RR sound like an updated version of C&E with patches and beats up there with any synth based band right now. I think if you enjoy bands like Empathy Test, you’ll love this. So happy this is out, and damn, I hope they do more. Favorite track: The Sun, The Stars, The Shine.

Ernie A haunting and beautiful piece of work. Von Hertzog's production and Rob's voice are a match made in a dark, dreamy part of my mind that I don't want to leave. The addition of an In a Dramatic Gesture remix to Calm Down Lover, caps off a top notch effort. Favorite track: The Sun, The Stars, The Shine.

Deacon Jonez What can I say about this album, it’s one of those listen from beginning to end getting lost in moment. Such a great album, production quality is amazing. I still can’t pick a favorite track everything is so good.

VHxRR - The Persistence of Memory (EP)

TRACKLIST:

1. Calm Down Lover

VERSE 1:
Calm down lover take it easy
Ten years is a long time baby
I thought that you’d be married maybe
To rich man in a black Mercedes

CHORUS:
I think you should know
She knows how to please me
So just let it go
You’re not gonna tempt me
And I’ll never know
Just why you’d want me
‘Cause I let you go
So just let it go

VERSE 2:
Calm down lover slow your roll now
The end was always waiting deep down
I thought that you’d find happy somehow
In a world of magazines and highbrow

CHORUS:
I think you should know
She knows how to please me
So just let it go
You’re not gonna tempt me
And I’ll never know
Just why you’d want me
‘Cause I let you go
So just let it go

2. A Little Bit Sweeter

VERSE 1:
I’ve got to find a way to you tonight
You’ve got to find a way to make this right
Under the moon and all the satellites
You’ve got to find a way
I can’t believe we’re in this place again
You said you’d meet me and it’s way past ten
Nothing but paper and my words and pen
I’ve got nothing to say

CHORUS:
Push it in just a little bit deeper
Make the wound just a little bit sweeter
Push it in just a little bit deeper
Make the wound just a little bit sweeter
A little bit sweeter love
A little bit sweeter
A little bit sweeter love

VERSE 2:
I’ve got to find a way to you tonight
You’ve got to find a way to make it right
The earth has split beneath my steps tonight
I think I’ve lost my way
I can’t believe I’m in this space again
This isn’t nothing so I won’t pretend
That this is something that I want my friend
I think I’ll sleep today

OUTRO:
Push it in just a little bit deeper
Make the wound just a little bit sweeter
Push it in just a little bit deeper
Make the wound just a little bit sweeter
A little bit sweeter love
A little bit sweeter
A little bit sweeter love

3. The Long Goodbye

VERSE 1:
You were the source of the sound
With everyone watching
We were the talk of the town
But nobody’s talking
All I know, is something’s got to give I know
All I know, I’ve nothing more to give I know
This is the last time

CHORUS:
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to have everything like them
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to be everything

VERSE 2:
You were the keeper of dreams
Of stars that have fallen
We fell apart the seams
Our system was broken
All I know, is something’s got to give I know
All I know, I’ve nothing more to give I know
This is the last time

CHORUS:
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to have everything like them
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to be everything

BRIDGE:
This is the long goodbye
This is the long goodbye

CHORUS:
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to have everything like them
Ooh everything must end
I know you wanted to be everything

OUTRO:
This is the long goodbye
This is the long goodbye

4. The Sun, The Stars, The Shine

VERSE 1:
In this endless sea of light
We’ve got someone to hold
Under darkness of the night
We’ll be taking control
They can try to hold us down
But don’t they know
That the fire won’t burn out
When the whisper turns
To scream and shout

CHORUS:
We are all connected
By the sun, the stars, the shine
We are nothing more than light
We won’t be defeated
As long as you’re forever mine
We’ll keep holding on to life
We’ll forever shine

VERSE 2:
Under endless sky of blue
They’re receiving our call
For the end of all they do
We’ll be taking it all
They can try to break us up
But we will prove
That the fire won’t burn out
When the whisper turns
To scream and shout

CHORUS:
We are all connected
By the sun, the stars, the shine
We are nothing more than light
We won’t be defeated
As long as you’re forever mine
We’ll keep holding on to life
And when this is over
I’ll be running back to you
We will shine forever

BRIDGE:
And when this is over
I'll be running back to you
We will shine forever
And when this is over
I’ll be right here next to you
We will shine forever
Shine forever

OUTRO:
We are all connected
By the sun, the stars, the shine
We are nothing more than light
We won’t be defeated
As long as you’re forever mine
We’ll keep holding on to life

about

VH x RR Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

VH x RR was founded in 2016 by Von Hertzog and Rob Rowe. Hertzog reached out to Rowe on Twitter and essentially cold-called him to see if they could work together. Since then, despite working on their third EP together, the two have still not met in person. Hertzog works in his home studio outside Philadelphia and Rowe works out of his home studio in Seattle. ... more
